You already know that an online maths tutor working one to one with a student is the next best thing to their own maths teacher spending dedicated time with them.
Teachers are busy, with 29 other students to look after.
With a personal online maths tutor each student can get the same level of expert support targeted specifically on their own misconceptions and gaps.
I love that the sessions can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual and that the children have the same tutor for every session. The 1:1 sessions really help develop confidence in speaking and listening – as well as in mathematics. It’s really user friendly and the Third Space staff are always on hand to offer support or advice.

With Third Space Learning all students follow a personalised curriculum, working through concepts and practice questions with their tutor. The result is increased confidence, knowledge and understanding in maths. And, at the right time, improved SATs and GCSE results.
We have been working with schools for 10 years so understand exactly how to help students while also making minimal impact on teachers’ workload and time.
As well as the high-quality tutoring, you receive full access to our extensive library of KS1 and KS2 maths resources and CPD, helping you raise maths attainment across the school, not just those those students receiving the tuition.
Your pupils are taught by tutors who are maths specialists, trained to deliver effective and engaging one to one maths lessons; the only limit for how many students you can have learning at once is the quality of your broadband connection.
Students follow a programme of high-quality online lessons, built around well researched pedagogies including plenty of scaffolding and retrieval practice. All curriculum maths topics are covered, from place value and fractions to simultaneous equations and trigonometry.
In the dedicated exam preparation programmes such as our SATs and GCSE maths tuition, students receive multiple opportunities to practise applying their knowledge to exam-style questions.
This is offered to every pupil before their first lesson to identify their gaps and misconceptions and to provide a benchmark for our personalised impact report for each student at the end.
Your budgets are tighter than ever. And yet one to one tutoring is proven to be so much more effective than group tutoring, so we make sure that your students can still receive DfE-approved one to one tutoring — for the price other providers charge for group sessions.

What is the best online maths tutoring programme?
We believe Third Space Learning is the best online maths tutoring programme because it combines our many years of experience teaching maths online with the power of technology to connect expert maths teachers with the children in the UK who need support. We are also 100% focused on the needs of primary and secondary schools that follow the national curriculum for KS2, KS3, and KS4 maths. We don’t provide private maths tutors for home zoom tutoring sessions, all our lessons take place using an online whiteboard in our own dedicated online classroom, and we don’t teach any other subjects such as Physics or English.
Are online tutors worth it?
Online tutors are definitely worth it if you can get a personalised one to one tuition session from a qualified teacher or specialist tutor with good teaching experience. In fact they have lots of benefits over other kinds of tutors such as face to face or group tutors. For a start you have a much wider range of tutors available to you and instead of just being reliant on an intervention lead in your school or the tutors who can travel to you. It is also often easier to provide multiple tutors online at the same time. Online tutors supported by training and a structured sequence of lessons can provide a much more targeted and focused tuition session for learners than a one off in person tutor.
How much does a maths tutor cost in the UK?
A maths tutor in the UK can range from approximately £20 per hour to £60 per hour or more. Using online maths tutors from Third Space Learning is on average about 50% cheaper than running one to one interventions with existing school staff – and is the most affordable DfE-approved one to one tutoring provider. Most schools use their Pupil Premium budget to cover the costs.
Do you offer A level maths tutors?
At the moment we are only able to offer online maths tuition to children studying at Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Our experienced tutors (all with enhanced DBS checks and a Police Clearance Certificates) are given a programme of maths tutor training to enable them to work with primary school pupils who may be preparing for SATs or entrance exams. Then our GCSE maths tutors are available to support secondary students preparing for GCSE / iGCSE level exams. Lessons are suitable for all major exam boards and matched against OCR, AQA and Edexcel syllabus. Unfortunately we are unable to provide maths and physics tutors, A level maths tutors, English tutors or indeed preparation for Further Maths at this stage.
